Filling the Gaps to Move Students Forward
If you’re interested in having Beth work directly with your child, the following services are offered separately or in combination depending on what best meets your child's needs:
Writing: remedial tutoring in writing, specifically clarity and organization of written expression and accuracy in written mechanics for students in 3rd-8th grades
Reading: remedial tutoring in reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension for students in 3rd-8th grades
Executive Skills: creation of individualized systems to manage time, space and materials in your child's environment, particularly as they transition to middle school
Self-Advocacy: assist students in creating their own learning profile, identify available supports in the academic setting, and provide the necessary language needed for your child to be their own advocate in and out of school
This summer, Beth will be teaching a five-day Summer Paragraph Writing Workshop at her in-home office located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. Student will learn how to effectively plan, structure, draft and revise their expository writing. Extra emphasis will be given to writing about reading, which is a crucial skill in these middle grades.
The workshop is open to rising 4th-7th graders. Groups will be kept small (no more than 4) and grouped by grade level (4th/5th and 6th/7th). Please click here for contact information.
Beth will also be giving a talk on how prevent "Summer Slide" and encourage reading over the summer. Join us on Saturday , June 9th from 12:30-1:30pm at READ718, a non-profit offering individualized tutoring services to low-income students reading below grade level. Check out their website for more information.
